| Our History |
|
By Godfs grace and goodness we celebrated our 60th anniversary in 2008. The first ministry in Naka, led by American missionary J.A.McAlpine and Pastor Ryohei DATE (Gifu Kano kyokai) began as a home group in the home of the Shinoda family. In 1955, the first chapel was officially inaugurated and Pastor DATE became its missionary teacher the following year. Many people from the nearby American Military Camp gathered in the chapel at that time. In 1965, Pastor Takeomi SUWA took over as pastor and in 1966 the new church was established. Pastor Yoichi ARIYOSHI, newly graduated from theological school, was pastor from 1986 to1991. After and interregnum of 2 years, our current Pastor Hironobu NAKANE took over the role. In 2003, after 8 years of planning, when the original members and the next generation worked closely together, the new church was established. Our main aim and prayer is to lead our children, especially those in the secondary school, to a personal commitment to Christ. Our sincere hope and prayer is to pass on our faith to next generation. |
