ISO/IEC Decimal sign problem

In Japan or U.S.A., as you know, a point [.] is used

as the decimal sign as shown below.

1234.5

But, in such European continental countries as

France, Germany, a comma [,] is used as shown below.

1234,5

Did you know?

And the use of a comma is a duty by the following international standards as
ISO (International Organization for Standardization
j
and
IEC (International Electrotechnical Commissionj.

Those are international standards for mechanical and electrical respectively.

Then when products are produced and exported in accordance with ISO/IEC,

the decimal sign used in the drawing or at the name plate attached on the products

must be a comma.

Do you agree?

But, there is the following problem and still a room for amendment,

because almost 70 % of the world population of six billion people who live

in not only Japan or U.S.A., but also China, U.K., Australia, India,
English speaking area in Canada and so on use a period as the decimal sign.

There are English version and French version in ISO/IEC, but they have to

use comma even at the English version of the international standard in such

native English speaking countries as shown the above, though French version
shall be left as it is for
European continental countries.

Donft you think it is ridiculous?

I have worked to try to amend that the decimal sign in English version
should be a period, but I couldnft succeed by a lack of power.
I think I still continue my activities to amend the standard
in collaboration with people Japan and in such countries as the above.
